Running and then blogging about it

Karen! I love you!

I wasn’t sure I was going to make it out today after my long run yesterday, but I did manage to get 4 miles in. I just did a loop around my neighborhood – to the Southwest Community Center and back past Alpenrose Dairy. I thought it would be a good run because it looked all sunny outside, but then I accidentally ran under the un-sunny part and it hailed all over me. It was kind of painful, but it didn’t last long.

I’ve done this run for a long time, or at least some variation of it. It’s kind of boring, but there aren’t that many good places to run from my house. One time probably eight years ago, I was doing that route and as I was coming back, I came to this little sidewalk island right before crossing Beaverton-Hillsdale, and tripped on the curb and fell really bad. That kind of thing doesn’t usually bother me too much, but the light there is really long and there’s lots of cars, and I had to stand there forever while I had blood all over me and everyone stared at me. Now I’m extra careful there. Here’s a visual in case you don’t understand what I’m talking about (you might need to click on the picture to see it more clearly – my paint skills aren’t what they used to be):

The good news is that today I did not trip, and when I was standing there listening to my ipod, the song “Steal My Sunshine” came on, and that song is so weird. I’m not sure why I’m equating that to good news, but it was entertaining I guess.

The extra good news, is that my Commemorative Bottle Opener Style Medallion from the Shamrock Run finally arrived! It looks like this (my camera battery is dead so I had to scan it):
I’m super excited about this because I’ve never had a thing that was both a medal (which shows how awesome I am) and a bottle opener (a thing that can help me drink better). That’s like the best combination of things ever. I can’t wait to go to a bar and demand that they open my drink with my Commemorative Bottle Opener Style Medallion.

I must confess, I started running at a very early age. Sadly, my runs were unblogumented until around age 23, so you'll have to use your imagination for all the runs I went on before that. Running has always been my go-to sport, but sadly, I spend a good amount of my time with chronic injuries. I have learned to entertain myself athletically with other pursuits such as kettlebell, yoga, and bikini competitions, when I can't run. In addition to my unique talent for working out and then blogging about it, I am an amateur puppy stylist and photographer, television enthusiast, and I'm usually CPR/AED certified, but I would still prefer if you didn't pass out when we're together.

That is the coolest bottle opener I have ever seen. PBR lids will come off soooo smoothly now.

    About Me

I’m Colleen. I started this blog when I was 23 years old and training for my first marathon. I was single, semi-employed, generally directionless in life, and had a lot of free time on my hands. I have a lot less free time now, but I still love to come here and dump my rambling, unedited thoughts after a workout or race once in a while.
