I’ve set myself up for 15 miles in my last two days of the week. Very doable, but means I need to stop taking naps that consume the majority of my daylight hours if I ever want to run outside. Which I do. For a while I was having no problem putting in tons of miles on the treadmill, but I’m quickly losing focus. I did break up my treadmill running today though, I ran about a mile and a half, went to pilates, then finished up. I’ve never done pilates before, so I didn’t really know what to expect other than what my mom tells me about it. I definitely didn’t expect it to be as mind-numbingly boring as it was. Everything was either too easy or I just couldn’t do it because I’m not flexible enough (I decided to give up stretching a while ago, it got too boring, and no major consequences so far).
After all this talk about me running, you’re probably starting to wonder what I wear when I’m on a run (maybe you haven’t ever thought about that, but this is my seamless transition into what I really want to talk about). I wear different stuff, but what I haven’t ever worn, is a running skirt. I encourage you to actually click on that link, because if you do, you’ll come to the Running Skirt website, where these twin ladies will tell you about how great it is to run in a skirt. They also like to make a big thing of what’s under the running skirt, and act like they’re going to lift up their own skirt but then don’t:
I also found this video where they make a half-hearted attempt at humor. I’ll let you decide if they succeeded or not:
Do people actually wear these? How are they better than shorts? Or are running shorts just outmoded? I’m kind of intrigued, but also sort of annoyed that these things exist. For a while last year I played futsal, and there was a woman on another team who always wore something like the running skirt for futsal (which is pretty much indoor soccer, fyi). If anything it worked as a distraction device, because the entire time I was playing against her, all I could think was “why is she wearing a skirt?” If anyone else is as curious about the running skirt as I am, feel free to buy one for me and I’ll do a full product review.
These skirt ladies seem to be really into dudes wearing their running skirts. If a guy tries the skirt on in the store, then the girl they’re with gets 20% off her skirt! I also want to point out that there are cheetah print running skirts, camo print running skirts, and – wait for it – maternity running skirts. You literally have no excuse to not buy one.
I encourage you all to explore the website, it’s extremely fascinating. The twins even include their training playlist, which features “Sexy Chick” by the David Guetta and “Party In the U.S.A.” by Miley Cyrus (otherwise known as “American Party”), which are both songs that I have on my running playlist. runningskirts.com is an all around good time. But again, does anyone actually use these?
I vaguely recall having more that I wanted to talk about, but I am so overwhelmed by runningskirts.com that I’m going to have to stop here.
