Not Running and Then Blogging About It

By Colleen @colleenalicia · On March 9, 2010

You’ve probably noticed that it’s been a long time since I’ve updated. I have a good excuse though – I haven’t really been running. I’ve been trying to do 25 miles a week, and I haven’t even run that much in the last 3 weeks. I’m tempted to blame it on possible anemia, poor sleep schedule, or that kind of thing, but really I just haven’t felt like it. It’s been a really long time since I ran consistently for more than a couple weeks, so going on three months of this is difficult. Today I finally forced myself to go on a run for two reasons. One is that I’m doing the Shamrock 15k on Sunday, and after training pretty hard and consistently for a couple months I’d like to not screw it up just because I got lazy a couple weeks before the run. Not that you can really screw up a road race unless you’re trying to win it or something, so I guess I should amend that and say I’d like not to feel like shit the whole time. Reason number two is that my dog has been insane this week and looks like he’s about to explode most of the time. Probably because I got him into really good shape by running him 25-30 miles a week and then completely stopped running him at all. Oops. My two and a half mile run today didn’t make him much happier. Don’t worry, I’ll run 100 miles next week to make up for all of my not-running. So get ready for that. Miles run this week: 2.5 Miles run in 2010: 204

I must confess, I started running at a very early age. Sadly, my runs were unblogumented until around age 23, so you'll have to use your imagination for all the runs I went on before that. Running has always been my go-to sport, but sadly, I spend a good amount of my time with chronic injuries. I have learned to entertain myself athletically with other pursuits such as kettlebell, yoga, and bikini competitions, when I can't run. In addition to my unique talent for working out and then blogging about it, I am an amateur puppy stylist and photographer, television enthusiast, and I'm usually CPR/AED certified, but I would still prefer if you didn't pass out when we're together.

About Me

I’m Colleen. I started this blog when I was 23 years old and training for my first marathon. I was single, semi-employed, generally directionless in life, and had a lot of free time on my hands. I have a lot less free time now, but I still love to come here and dump my rambling, unedited thoughts after a workout or race once in a while.
