Tibias Lead Very Stressful Lives

By Colleen @colleenalicia · On September 9, 2012

I would love to write an extremely long post, detailing all the nuances of my current shin pain, but unfortunately I’m pressed for time, and only the slightest bit concerned that nobody really cares.  So I’ll just give you a brief update to say that after speaking with my doctor/mom, it looks like I might have a stress fracture.  Technically she said that it was “at the least, very stressed.”  So maybe it’s not a stress fracture, but if I have to be telling people that I have an injury, I’d rather say it’s a stress fracture.  Of all the possible injuries you can get, a stress fracture is probably on the lowest possible end of the bad-ass spectrum.  The only thing worse is a bone that isn’t actually fractured, but just “very stressed out.”  Like it’s late on its mortgage and just broke up with its boyfriend, and just has way too much on its plate right now.  That’s how my left tibia is acting at the moment.

The point of all this is to tell you that I won’t be running for a bit, but I’ll be sure to find something fascinating to share with you soon anyhow.

I don’t have any new pictures of Pascal at the moment, so please enjoy this picture of some food I ate at Lucky Lab last week.  Their logo is a black lab, so this picture of pizza and a beer is pretty much like looking at a picture of Pascal.

I must confess, I started running at a very early age. Sadly, my runs were unblogumented until around age 23, so you'll have to use your imagination for all the runs I went on before that. Running has always been my go-to sport, but sadly, I spend a good amount of my time with chronic injuries. I have learned to entertain myself athletically with other pursuits such as kettlebell, yoga, and bikini competitions, when I can't run. In addition to my unique talent for working out and then blogging about it, I am an amateur puppy stylist and photographer, television enthusiast, and I'm usually CPR/AED certified, but I would still prefer if you didn't pass out when we're together.

🙁 I’m sorry about your injury! That’s never fun.. Hopefully, your tibia will stop being so stressed soon.

Thank you! I’ll probably take it to a tibia spa or somewhere ultra-relaxing to help it calm down quick.

You were! And this picture would probably be way better if you were in it.

Hey, I found your blog when I was obsessively looking for something to assuage my ego now that I’m down with a tibial stress fracture myself. 🙁 hope you’re coping with it better than I am. I have vowed many things in frustration – one of them being carrying a hockey stick to heaven to do some crafty things which include being violent and venting my lungs out. 😛 I’m a runner too. Been running since 2.5 years. This is my first injury. Anyway, since I could connect with the frustration apparent in this post, I thought I’d leave a message so you can feel happy about how much better your coping mechanism is 😛

    About Me

I’m Colleen. I started this blog when I was 23 years old and training for my first marathon. I was single, semi-employed, generally directionless in life, and had a lot of free time on my hands. I have a lot less free time now, but I still love to come here and dump my rambling, unedited thoughts after a workout or race once in a while.
