I’ve been wearing my brand new Nike+ FuelBand for almost an hour now, and so far it’s pretty fantastic. For example, normally sitting in a bar and waiting for my car to get fixed would feel pretty unproductive, but with my FuelBand on, I’ve gotten 63 points for sitting here! You can also check calories, which equals 17 at this point, and so I definitely see the attraction of the made up fuel points.
The downside of the FuelBand is that it does seem to mostly track activity by physical movement of the band. This means that not a lot of action will be tracked even I do something like ride a bike. Hopefully I’ll be back to running again soon anyway that this won’t matter too much. Because as I am learning, fuel points DO matter. A lot.
Here’s what my FuelBand looks like on me when it’s not lit up or doing anything:
I opted for the black steel because the white ice looked like a hospital ID band and also like it would get dirty a lot. I liked the look of the black ice, but the numbers don’t look as sharp against the black ice background as on the black steel band.
Anyone else have a FuelBand? Make sure you figure out how to friend me on Nike+ if you do, I only have two friends to compete against so far. I need more so I have people to brag to when I crush them in fuel points, or complain/make excuses when I don’t. Otherwise I suppose I’ll just have to blog about it to everyone, which may happen anyway.

Ah, but let’s not forget that calories are actually kilocalories. So you burned 17,000 calories. OMG! That’s pretty impressive.
I’m so glad you brought that up, I feel much better now. Not to mention that I’m now up to 19 – I mean 19,000 calories!
What is this? IB Chemistry?
